The GoPro Light Mod 2 (Model: ALTSC-002-AS) adds compact, powerful LED lighting to any GoPro setup — wide, smooth, even light that keeps footage crisp when the sun drops. Four brightness levels run from a subtle 20-lumen fill up to 125 lumens, with an Overdrive mode pushing 200 lumens for short bursts when a shot needs it. The built-in rechargeable battery now runs up to 8 hours on Level 1, 3 hours on Level 2 and 2 hours on Level 3 — a significant step up on the original Light Mod, so a full day of shooting no longer means closely watching the battery.

The redesigned diffuser is the other major upgrade. A cutout in the diffuser lets you open the power door and connect external power while the diffuser stays fitted, so studio sessions, timelapses and long-form capture can run well past the internal battery's limit. Colour temperature sits at 5700K bare or 5000K with the diffuser installed, both at CRI 90+ for accurate skin tones and colour. An updated button layout makes changing modes easier with gloves or wet hands.

Mounting is flexible. The Light Mod 2 attaches to a GoPro Media Mod for an integrated on-camera rig, or to the Point-and-Shoot Grip for the Mission1 series. Used on its own, the included 2-Finger Adapter clips it straight onto any standard GoPro Finger mount — no Media Mod required.

A note on waterproofing: the Light Mod 2 itself is sealed and rated to 10m (33ft) when used as a standalone light with its power door closed. That rating covers the light alone. The GoPro Media Mod and Point-and-Shoot Grip are not waterproof, so an assembled rig using either one is not water-rated regardless of the light's own sealing. The diffuser's power-door cutout also means the door can be left open during use, and the light is not waterproof in that state.
