ULANZI DC01 2-in-1 Dual-Slot Memory Card Reader/Storage Case

The ULANZI DC01 2-in-1 Dual-Slot Memory Card Reader/Storage Case (Model: DC01) does the job of two things you would otherwise carry separately. It is a memory card case that holds eight memory cards, and it is a UHS-II card reader that offloads them straight to a USB Type-C compatible laptop, tablet or phone — in a slim aluminium housing that fits in your palm. Ulanzi's own packaging calls it the Quick Transfer Memory Card case.

The reader takes two cards at once. There is a full-size UHS-II SD slot and a UHS-II microSD slot, and both work at the same time. With UHS-II cards and a host that can keep up, transfer runs at up to 312MB/s, which moves about a gigabyte in three seconds.

Inside, soft silicone slots hold four SD cards and four microSD cards in separate zones, so you can keep fresh cards apart from shot ones and know at a glance which is which. The lid shuts on a magnetic closure with cushioned edges — it stays closed in a bag.

The cable is the cleverest part. The 120mm-long USB-C cable doubles as the lanyard strap: it pushes firmly into a capped ring that stays tethered to the metal case, so the cable travels with the reader instead of living loose in the bottom of a bag. A storage pouch is included as well.
